Day 1: Rio de Janeiro - Sugar Loaf
Arrival at Rio and transfer to the hotel. Accommodation and departure to visit the Sugar Loaf Mountain. It was, at the feet of Urca Hill, that the city of Rio de Janeiro was founded in 1565 by Estácio de Sá. The visit is done in two steps, by modern cable-car. The first ride of the cable-car links Praia Vermelha to Urca Hill, located at 215 meters of altitude, a point from where you can see the entire Guanabara Bay and its islands, Flamengo landfilling, the Corcovado and Rio-Niterói bridge, besides the majestic mountains that protect and embellish the city. In the belvedere, there is a fast Food area, an amphitheater and a Heliport. The second cable-car ride, takes you to the top of Sugar Loaf Mountain, at 395 meters of altitude, from where you can see, in a unique perspective, the beach of Copacabana, Santa Cruz Fortress and some beaches of Niterói in a fantastic scenery. Return to the hotel in time for lunch (not included). Optional: Hiking towards Urca Hill. We walk by Cláudio Coutinho way and take the trail to reach the Urca Hill. The first step is steep and the trail takes about 40 min. It can be decided locally and will reduce the time up there. *Moderate level.
DAY 2: Rio de Janeiro – Corcovado - Tijuca Forest - Chinese View - Santa Teresa
After breakfast, we’ll leave at 08am and travel to the Christ the Redeemer statue on Corcovado Mountain by Tijuca Forest. Afterwards depart to Tijuca National Park, stopping at the Chinese View belvedere. This park is known as the largest urban forest on earth. Inside the forest, walk through an easy trail. During the tour, usually we can see tropical animals like monkeys, monkeys sloths and exotic birds. Then we go to the charming district of Santa Teresa with its cobblestoned hilly streets, old homes and interesting museums. Return to the hotel for overnight.
Day 3: Rio de Janeiro - Paraty Walking Tour
After breakfast, transfer to Paraty. Arrival in Paraty and check in. Depart for a private historical and cultural tour. Beautiful colonial architecture, street design ahead of its time, exiled Portuguese royalty and the dark past of the slave trade – these are just some of the ingredients that make up Paraty’s rich and colorful history from the past to the present day. Overnight.
Day 4: Paraty - Paddle Board
Breakfast and depart for an incredible SUP morning. The protected flat waters of Paraty’s bay have perfect Stand up Paddling conditions and with the use of our support boat is possible to explore the best spots in the bay! After the safety instructions on Jabaquara beach, just outside the old town, we paddle to the support boat that will take us out the bay. Overnight in Paraty. Note: This tour is suitable for beginner and experienced paddlers as you can paddle as much or as little as you like. Non-paddlers are welcome to enjoy the trip from the boat.
Day 5: Paraty Free Day
Free day to enjoy Paraty. Overnight.
Day 6: Paraty - Angra dos Reis - Ilha Grande
After breakfast, transfer to Angra dos Reis to take a flex boat towards Ilha Grande. Be hosted by a local guide that helps with the luggage and a short walk to the pousada. After check in, meet your guide for a walking tour, in a quiet walk along the trail in Ilha Grande Park, where you can admire the beauty amid the Atlantic forest. Passing through the ruins of the old Lazaretto (a political prison), Aqueduct, where one will be immersed in different periods of Brazilian history such as indigenous period, Buccaneers, colonial period, the cycles of coffee and sugar cane farms. By this way it is still possible to bathe in Black Beach. Another point is the Black Beach belvedere, where you can admire the whole Abraão Bay. Take a free evening to discover the city by yourself. Overnight at Pousada.
Day 7: Ilha Grande - Lopes Mendes Hiking
After breakfast, meet your guide (private) for a 2,30 hours, 6km hike to Lopes Mendes one way. It is the largest of the 107 beaches scattered throughout Ilha Grande. The waves along its three kilometers of thin white sand are a Mecca for surfers. Snorkel gear and surfboards can be rented on site. Hike to Pouso beach (30 min.). In the late afternoon return by private boat to Abraão Village. Overnight at Pousada.
Day 8: Ilha Grande Free Day
Free day to enjoy the Island. Overnight.
Day 9: Ilha Grande - Iguassu Falls
Have breakfast and board on shared transfer by flex boat to Angra dos Reis. Transfer by land to Rio de Janeiro’s airport. Flight to Iguassu. Transfer to the Hotel. Overnight.
Day 10: Iguassu (Argentina)
After breakfast, depart to visit the Argentinean Side of the Iguassu Falls. Overnight. Argentinean Side of Iguassu Falls – Full Day – 8 hours Visit to the Argentinean Side of Iguassu Falls, located 30kms from downtown Foz, and 24kms from Puerto Iguassu. Arrival at the Visitors Center, It is an interpretative building with giant panels showing the importance of the biodiversity of the subtropical humid forest. To get to the catwalks overlooking the falls, visitors will board a gas-propelled train that will take them to the Upper Falls Circuit and the Devil’s Throat. The walking tour takes place through the lower circuit catwalks with duration of 1 hour and the upper circuit with duration of approximately 50 minutes. To visit the Devil’s Throat, visitors should board the train at the Cataratas Station, close to the Upper Circuit. Once at the Devil’s Throat Station, visitors will take a walking tour on a flat catwalk built over the Upper Iguassu River, with an extension of 1100 meters that leads visitors to the balconies for an amazing panoramic view of this magnificent fall: The Devil’s Throat.
Day 11: Iguassu (Brazil)
After breakfast, depart for a private visit to the Brazilian Side of Iguassu Falls. Transfer to the Hotel. Flight to your next destination. Brazilian Side of Iguassu Falls – Half Day – 3 hours Arrive at the Visitors Center, located 12 km from the heart of the Park. Visitors will be transferred on specially conditioned vehicles to the catwalks for a walking tour of approximately 1 km long, where you will admire the falls from different viewpoints. At the end of the catwalk you will find a fantastic close-up encounter with the Devil’s Throat and main falls.
